Artist Statement

From painted screens to chairs! Here is my own version of Balmerart. I painted my first porch chair after buying and moving into my first home here in Lauraville. I had this great metal porch chair and it seemed only natural to paint the view from my proch. That grew into a series of chairs celebrating local neighborhoods.

I've lived all over this city from Bolton Hill to Mt Vernon to Charles Village, Hamilton, Arcadia and now Lauraville. I stand behind my favorite bumper sticker exclaiming proudly, "I love City Life."

I love this quirky city called Baltimore. Each neighborhood has it's own flavor and I seek to capture that in my chairs.

I've only just scratched the surface -- there are so many other great places I have not yet captured. I will be adding new chairs to this website monthly, so come back for another visit.
